Student councils from both Des Moines Roosevelt High School and West Des Moines Valley High School recently organized a special competition between the two schools.
Tasked with raising the most funds in the span of three days to benefit children in the local community, students from both Valley and Roosevelt worked tirelessly to garner as many donations as possible; the entire competition culminated in a collaborative event hosted in Roosevelt’s auditorium featuring talented performing groups from both schools, in celebration of Valley and Roosevelt’s efforts.
In the end, over $4000 were directed to Site for Smiles and Smarts and the local Boys and Girls Club, with the focus of providing food-filled backpacks for children in the local community.
